This year our family of four enjoyed Christmas with our friend July who is visiting from out of town. We had a delicious breakfast and enjoyed opening presents. Here is a little home video showing how much Tyler loved his gift from Santa Claus. Hope your day was a great one, enjoy!

In order to make our site more accessible to those of you that want to visit it using an iPad, iPhone, or other device that doesn’t support Flash, all of our videos from now on will be embedded using HTML5 with Flash as a fallback. This means that everybody should be able to view the videos, regardless of the device, OS, or browser you are using.
Also, I will embed the photos inline with the post content, with links to the full-res originals, so if you want to grab a photo for your screensaver or something, it will be super-easy to do.
Here is some footage I grabbed when we were at the Draper Temple. I had my camera configured to overcrank (see this post if you don’t remember what that means) and so when I saw Tyler walking around with his Great-Grandpa I grabbed some quick candids. Enjoy!
P.S. I have several other videos that I’ve started making and never finished, so I better get those finished and posted soon. You will be able to tell they are old because Tyler looks a lot younger in them! Maybe if I didn’t try to make the videos so complex it would be easier to get them out more often….but then they wouldn’t be quite as fun, would they?
Today was sunny so we went outside for a few minutes to play in the grass. Tyler absolutely loves being outside, so we are looking forward to summer!
The slow-motion effect in the video was all done in-camera (not on the computer) using a technique called “overcranking”. Commonly used in filmmaking, it uses optical re-timing to create a natural and very clear slow motion effect by recording footage onto the camera at a much higher frame-rate than it will be played back at. In this video here, I recorded at 60 frames-per-second and then am playing it back at 24 frames-per-second, which gives you a playback speed of 40% when compared to to real-time. The inverse is also possible to do, if you want to make something move faster (like a car chase, etc.) and it’s called “undercranking”. Cool, huh?
Enjoy!

Technically there was snow on the ground when Tyler was born, but this winter is the first time he actually realizes that it is there. He loves being outside, and so we figured he would love the snow as well…and we were right! Here’s a short video I threw together of Tyler’s first time playing in the snow!

Recently we have been faced with a mystery. Tyler (the new king of the living room) somehow manages to strew his toys all over the room in a manner of minutes, even though he still can’t crawl or walk. Being the astute parents that we are, we have devised a plan for discovering how he does it.

(From now on, all videos will be in 720p format. It may be a little slower to load, but will look nicer at full-screen view)
Today Tyler enjoyed his first meal, an exquisite feast of rice cereal! Here’s a video showing how he reacted to his first real food:

Here’s a short clip of us having some fun outside as a family, with Tyler’s new toy. As you will see, Tyler’s becoming quite the little magician.

Today was a very special day, because Tyler was blessed by his Daddy at church. Thank you to all those that came to support us! Here are some photos from the special day:
